Unsure what a CSA is? Or curious what the program looks like at the Sparrows Keep?

Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is the formation of a personal relationship, between the farmer, and the consumer.
A CSA member pays for a entire seasons worth of vegetables before the season starts. This enables the farmer to make seed purchases, perform equipment repair, purchase supplies, and make a accurate plan to ensure a bountiful year!
By becoming a member, you are entitled to a weekly share of the garden. But you can’t have the good, without the bad. This includes a share of any crop failures. While we give everything to make every crop a success, every now and then they don’t succeed. But remember, a failure one place, usually heralds a bounty in another!
The great part of being a member is the connection you make with the food you eat.
The share breakdown:
- Full Share – runs for 11 or 17 weeks from mid-June through to Thanksgiving with 7+ products each week. You can count on a pack of our famous salad greens in each weeks’ box, but the rest of the veggies will change as they come into season: bok choy and spinach, eggplant and peppers, squash and potatoes. Feeds a small family
- Cottage $420 / 11 weeks, or Classic $585 / 17 weeks
- Salad Share – runs for 11 or 17 weeks from mid-June through to Thanksgiving with ~5 products each week. This share is a smaller offering for those who are worried about having too much produce during the main season. It contains salad greens, and a few other vibrant and flavourful ingredients including tomatoes, cucumber, green onions and carrots. For an individual or couple
- Cottage $275 / 11 weeks, or Classic $425 / 17 weeks
- Winter Share – runs for 10 weeks (5 bi-weekly pickups) from October 23rd to December 18th, with double servings of ~5 products. The summer has ended and you miss having a box of fresh vegetables grown and harvested just for you? No worries. While this share focuses on root crops and autumn flavours, you can expect fresh leafy greens too! ($250 / 10 weeks)

What is in our harvest box!?
Our Full share is enough vegetables for 2 people who like their vegetables, or a family with small children. We aim to have between 7 and 11 different vegetables every week for the full size shares. The Salad share will consist of about 5 different items. The types of vegetables you will get depend on the time of the season, and how the weather has been cooperating. You can expect more greens and short season crops in the spring; mid-season you will start getting some of the hot season crops like tomatoes and peppers; the fall showcases our long season and storage crops, like potatoes and squash!
The Winter Share will be about 5-7 different vegetables each week. Each pickup will be the equivalent of two weeks worth of produce. You can expect lots of potatoes, onions, radish, squash. There will also be fresh greens from our hoophouse depending on how the weather holds.
